DCC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PMO Manager to join our talented and dynamic team supporting a significant portfolio of change and delivery. This is a key leadership role, forming part of the PMO leadership team that is critical to the successful delivery of the DCC portfolio.
The successful candidate will own and provide leadership to the PMO capability for a discreet portfolio of programmes and work closely with the associated Delivery Director, Programme Directors and wider programme teams as well as with other functions within Operations, Service Providers and DCC’s CTO and Finance groups.
What you'll be doing:
Working alongside the Delivery Director to drive the definition and delivery of the portfolio of programmes and projects, understanding the specific requirements of the supported portfolio and developing support approaches necessary to assure delivery.
Establishing great relationships to build and maintain an effective and consistent delivery of PMO services to the portfolio through the effective leadership, management and development of the PMO team (up to 12 people) and wider PMO capability group.
Identifying & supporting the resolution of complex challenges across the portfolio including programme level risks, issues and dependencies and any wider change/ business organization impacts.
Gathering independent evidence from projects/ programmes and maintaining the central single version of the truth for programmes and projects e.g. their objectives, benefits, budget, lifecycle stage, change request history.
Establishing and maintaining the PMO drumbeat across the portfolio of programmes to ensure timely interventions and ensure internal and external governance and reporting requirements are met.
Controlling the Programme Plans, reporting, risk, issue management and dependencies including creation of regular executive reports, effectively assuring the delivery of the key outcomes.
What we're looking for:
Skills and Experiences
Enterprise Programme Delivery – 5+ years experience of leading / delivering successful change in large, complex and regulated technology centric programme environments with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups – either in a programme management or PMO Service capacity.
PMO Leadership – significant experienced in leading, managing and growing a team capability and its people and enabling optimisation of processes and ways of working. A recognised leader of people with the ability to influence, shape and drive improvement initiatives across PMO teams and the broader change delivery community.
Collaboration – Excellent relationship development/ management skills with the confidence to effectively challenge others where appropriate.
Effective communication – with an ability to filter/interpret technical programme updates and provide clear, concise reports for non-technical audiences.
Attention to detail and an analytical ability – to help propose solutions to problems and appropriately prioritise activities.
Strong initiative and drive, self-motivated with an aptitude to work well under pressure and with low supervision.
Experience of financial tracking and reporting against targets / budgets.
Tooling – Proficient use of PPM applications (e.g. Clarity) and MS applications including Sharepoint, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
Experience of working within or engaging closely with Ofgem, or the Energy Sector.
Knowledge of the Smart Energy Code and DCC Licence Conditions.
Knowledge of the Smart Metering Implementation Programme and DCC’s role.
Preferred but not essential subject to experience:
Batchelor’s Degree qualification.
Industry recognised certification preferred but not essential subject to experience (e.g. APM, PMP, P3O, PRINCE 2).
