Job Purpose / Primary Objective

Acting as a key member of the manufacturing management team, responsible for the day-to-day operation of the production function, the Production Planning Manager’s primary objective both individually and through the planning team members is to ensure that the company’s products are planned to meet the demands of our build to stock policy against growing customer demands. Also, to ensure the planning schedule for the work centres are planned to ensure an efficient manufacturing to maximise productivity.

Key responsibilities

* Act as a key member of the manufacturing management team and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of production schedule.

* Continually review costs ensuring that the production of products is cost effective.

* Utilising the business ERP system (Enterprise Resource Planning) IFS, produce production work schedules & plans, in conjunction with procurement and production, ensuring that resources are reviewed prior to allocation and Timescales are set and achieved in line with customer OTIF demand.

* Work schedules support production efficiency planning in line with optimum levels for:

* Staff (including staffing capability levels and overtime resource)

* Machines, Tools & equipment

* WIP (Work in Progress) material stocks

* Production plans are sufficient to supply product for both ‘build to order’ sales and build for stock, measuring the business performance via KPI’s.

* Manufacturing lead times are measured and appropriate for customer requirements.

* MPS (Manufacturing production schedule) demand vs actual are reviewed and optimised.

* Schedules are generated and deployed timely for production.

* Capacity planning and deliverables are realistic and can be achieved.

* The process is structured and systematic to reflect current and future demand.

* Monitor production and raw material costs.

* Develop stock profiles and schedule the manufacturing of products in line with these.

* Develop and deploy Continuous Improvement initiatives

* Assist with the continued development and maintenance of ERP (IFS)

* Liaise with manufacturing engineering, purchasing and production to ensure that, new products are introduced into the production system are controlled and recorded.

* Ensure effective operations team communication via members of the manufacturing and business management team, Sales, Accounts, HR and R&D and Supply chain & Customers as required.

The candidate

* Degree qualified in a mechanical / electrical / electronic engineering related discipline.

* Have the ability to prioritise workload and work well under pressure, to meet deadlines, solve problems and manage business expectations.

* Valid driving license.

* A legal right to work in the UK.
